Here's an update of what I've been up to for the last month or so.
The last part of September I had plenty of time to spend with my daughter with my huge plaster which made carrying her a little tricky, most days were spent taking her for walks by the lake at Bariloche.
I flew back to the UK on the 14th October just in time for the unvailing of the Olympic monument in Aviemore to recognise the 14 Olympians our small community has produced over the years. The criteria was set to born in or educated in the area otherwise the list could have reached around 30!!! The event went really well, it was great to see some of the Olympians of the past whom I looked upto as a youngster it was also great to meet Sebastian Coe who officially opened the monument and gave encouragement to our local youngsters to get themselves on track for London 2012 or other future Olympics. The whole day went excellently with an large turn out of locals showing up to give their support for which I am very grateful.
A few days later I was back on a plane on my way to Austria for a photoshoot for the British team with our new Anzi Besson uniforms which was quite frustrating to be around the training atmosphere but not able to train, anyway it was only for the weekend.
On the Monday I reported to Raigmore hospital to see Mr Finlayson who has become quite a good friend over the years guiding me though my various injuries. This time it was good news and he gave me the clear to get back on snow, which in all honesty I really did not expect!!! so I will spend the next week to 10 days strengthening my arm before hitting the snow again.
Wednesday and I was on my way to the ski show to help Crystal promote their stand at the Metro ski show, I always enjoy the ski show, it makes you realise that the season is just around the corner this feeling was emphasised this year with the news I had from the doc a couple of days before. With Crystal's ski challenge growing hugely last year I hope it can grow again this year with the support of coverage by Channel 4 for the event in March next year. I will be there!!!!
As I write I am in the process of some intesive physio to get my arm back to full stregth ASAP. Next week I will have some custom arm protection made to make sure it doesn't happen again!!!
Bye for now, I hope you are all well up for a great winter!!!
