Canada, USA and back to Austria

Hi guys,

Since my last update quite a lot has been going on mostly me trying to cram all of my pre-season training into a few days which has proven to be a lot to ask of myself. In the few days of training I had before the Reiteralm World Cup I managed to pull off a few good performances, enough to give me some encouragement to start the race. However, the conditions were a lot rougher than it had been in the training days prior and I DNF'd about 2/3 of the way down. It was always going to be a long shot but I much preferred to have given it a shot considering my initial comeback date was early December.

After a whirlwind trip home to visit the doctor for a check I was back in Austria again to squeeze in one training day before heading out to Canada for the Lake Louise downhill races with the combined in Beaver Creek back in my plan. We only managed one day of gate training out there as there was some technical problems with the lift and it wouldn't start. So going into the downhill training runs at Lake Louise I wasn't settled on my skis and made the decision to miss the combined in Beaver Creek and focus more on getting back on track in my main event slalom.

The lake in Lake Louise had frozen over with no snow on it so we spent most of the afternoons ice skating on the totally clear mirror like ice which was really great. Next I headed of to Winter Park for some North American cup slalom races again my lack of training days showed here, however, it was encouraging because with every run I was getting much better and finished the 2 races in 18th and 15th place.

I am in Denver now just about to catch a flight back to Austria where I should get some more training and I will race in some FIS races before the next world cup race in Bad Kleinkirchheim.

I hope you are all getting geared up for the winter it been a great start in most of Europe I hear.

Bye for now

Noel
