I arrived up here in Sweden about a week ago now to some pretty horrible weather and have spend most of the week getting up then hearing the race or training is cancelled because of weather. We've had everything from wind, snow, rain, fog and today the temperature went down to -20!
I raced Super-G today which is the weakest of my events that I will race at the World Championships. The race went fairly well and I finished only 2.26 sec behind the winner in 38th place. This I feel is a decent result for me to build on. The course was fairly technical with a lot of terrain which made for a great fun ride down, not much time in the air but I'm sure their will a lot of that in the downhill over the next few days! We start tomorrow with a training run then on Thursday it’s the combined.
I trained some slalom yesterday and was in good form so I 'm feeling good going into the races over the next 2 weeks.
Are is a really nice place if the weather is on your side. When the race was cancelled we took the chance to get a little free skiing done and found some fun off piste tracks that were fairly easy to access. The forecast is looking more stable for the coming days so hopefully we'll get some conditions like today!
