Hello,

I hope you are all doing well and winding down into Summer.

I've had a bit mixed fortune over the past month starting my off-season with a fractured knee cap – I injured it while playing ice hockey. The injury sounds worse than it was as I could keep doing most of my training but not anything heavy on my quads, so that meant I spend most of my time on the golf course!

Last week Alain gave me a call to ask if I could take his place in a charity golf event organised by the BOA as his wife had to visit the hospital. It wasn't really much of a choice really so I travelled down to Woburn Golf Club for the event.

On the 1st day we had a team skins competition with teams made up from athletics, swimming, all stars and winter sports. There were quite a few big names around (with Olympic medals) including Sir Steve Redgrave. He was in the all stars team so this time we were on a level playing field unlike the Crystal Ski Challenge a couple of months earlier!

Guess what? The winter sports team won!!!!! Largely due to my replacement of Alain of course! We all had an excellent day and the weather was scorching. I managed to win £750 in the skins event with half of that going to the BOA and half to the charity of my choice which is Marie Curie.

Now I'm back home for a few days getting into my training programme before heading out for my 1st ski camp at some of the glaciers in Austria, where I will be testing and getting used to my new Elan skis after taking the decision to change at the end of this season ending my nine years with Fischer.

Enjoy the summer and I'll be in touch again soon.

Noel
